Joe Gumm

Biography

Joe Gumm’s broadcast journalism career began in radio with a stint at the USA Radio Network as a reporter. From there, he had an almost ten-year stretch with ESPN Radio covering hundreds of NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, and MLS events including Super Bowls, the World Series and college football national championships before eventually jumping into TV as an anchor for Fox Sports. 

After transitioning from sports into news, Joe covered and reported on local, state, and national stories as an anchor and investigative reporter for companies such as E.W. Scripps, Tegna and Sinclair. He has interviewed policy makers, Hall of Fame athletes, New York Times best-selling authors and Academy award winners.

He's the creator and executive producer of a show called, Traveling With The Tribe, a family travel show that highlighted vacation spots and day trips for families. In its first season, it was nominated for two Emmy awards, winning one. He's also the winner of five National Telly Awards, as well as an Associated Press award for news, all won with teams of talented professionals.  

Before joining Merit Street Media, Joe was a prime-time anchor on a news show called CenterPoint for Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), the largest global faith-based network with a daily audience reach of 100 million households.   

Joe and his wife are the parents of five daughters (one with four legs and four with two legs). 

He earned a BA in Broadcast Communication from the University of Texas at Arlington and an MS in Communications/Mass Media from Purdue University. He's the author of three books including 150 Secrets to a Happy Wife (Source Books).
