Texas police say alcohol containers found in car involved in fatal hit-and-run

Arlington, Texas Police said a suspected drunk driver struck and killed a 30-year-old man using the crosswalk at the intersection of of W. Pioneer Parkway and Center Street in Arlington, Texas.

It happened at 2 a.m on Sunday, June 9. Investigators have yet to find the hit-and-run driver who left the pedestrian deceased lying in the roadway.

Witnesses told investigators the victim was using the crosswalk at the intersection, attempting to cross from the north side of Pioneer Parkway to the south side, when he was hit by a black Honda Civic traveling eastbound along Pioneer Parkway. The driver of the Civic did not stop and continued to drive away from the scene. 

Officers found the Civic not far from the crash site in the 500 block of E. Pioneer Parkway. A witness told officers the driver abandoned the car and ran toward an apartment complex in the area.

The car had damage consistent with the collision, according to police. Officers said there were multiple alcohol containers inside.  

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the victim’s name once next of kin are notified.

The investigation is ongoing.
