Galveston, Texas — A barge hit a bridge leading to Pelican Island on May 15, reportedly spilling oil into the water and shutting down the only road into the area.
There are no reported injuries and despite the strike knocking out electricity on the island, power on the Texas A&M University at Galveston campus was restored. The school informed students of the incident via social media.
